Snowy Mountain

After Christmas and New Year, many people make themselves a promise to get fit and there are plenty of different ways of doing this.
In Germany, where there is plenty of snow on the ground at this time of year, Winter sports are popular.  Skating and skiing are widely enjoyed and many people young and older enjoy sledging with the Bavarian town ofGarmisch-Partenkirchenrecently playing host to the Bavarian Sled Championship – 1.2 km run called the “Hohe Weg”.

A lesser known fact about Australia is that there are actually many opportunities for skiing during the Southern Hemisphere winter (June to October), with New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory all containing excellent skiing country and equally excellent skiing facilities. Australiahas competed in the Winter Olympics since 1952 and Australian skiers have come away with medals in every Winter Games since 1998.  Snowboarding is also popular with Torah Bright picking up Gold for the women’s snowboard halfpipe in Vancouver 2010.

Australia’s growing success in this area has made the country increasingly popular both as a tourist destination and as a place to learn winter sports and there is a continual need for people to work in the tourist industry in general.  Those who wish to look for employment in this area are well advised to employ a German NAATI translator for an official translation of all relevant documents as it will make the process run much more smoothly.
